The most widely known of all the European cruise lines is Italian-based Costa cruises. So well-known it is now owned by Carnival. Cost is comparable to the American lines offering newer ships that can carry up to 3700 passengers like the ship Costa Concordia. The Concordia has fitness facilities, swimming pools no matter what the weather, and if you want a massage, a luxury spa. They also have smaller ships ranging between 1300 to 2700 passengers. Another Italian-based cruise line, is the MSC Cruise line. It is still owned and operated by its founder, Gianluigi Aponte. If Italy has a place in your heart, then this is the cruise for you. You can’t go wrong with seven course Italian meals and some of the best entertainment on the high seas. The ship, the MSC Musica, is the newer of the NSC fleet that is touring the Mediterranean. MSC has cruises from 6 to 22 days throughout the Mediterranean and the northern Europe. One of the best itineraries from MSC includes porting in Monte Carlo. .

Hurtigruten (Formerly Norwegian Coastal Voyage) This fleet offers one of the most individual and unique voyages through the Fjords on Norway’s west coast. The journey begins in Bergen in the south of Norway and then to Kirkenes in the north. This tour is mostly just a scenic tour. There are 34 ports along the strip, and the ports are for smaller ships and their is generally no access for the larger mega-ships. The ships also make cargo stop along the way. Probably the least he spends it of all the cruises listed, you can book an entire 12 day excursion or just one way for 6 to 7 days. Entertainment is scarce along with dining options.
